sunday...

"Sunday was a bright day yesterday/
Dark cloud has come into the way"

So says Moby couple of CDs back. And man, was Sunday ever full of dark clouds! The threat of rain was everywhere; you could almost feel the crackle in the air, although the rain never came. So I spent the day walking around Boston, in the Public Garden to re-descover nature in the heart of the city, at Newbury Street and at Beacon Hill where I made a much-deserved stop at Sevens Pub for a bite and a Guinness, or two, or three...

Awww, ain't that a cute little critter?

Sevens pub is small, dark, and it has everything that a pub should have, Guinness on draught (or draft - whatever spelling you choose, it's still Guinness!). Great bunch of people working there, very friendly. Will probably visit again as their pub food selection is quite tasty.

Tomorrow night is the Thievery Corporation show and it promises to be a good one. The two DJs always manage to bring to life their samba, jazz- and world-influenced music to life with the help of a solid collection of live performers. More to follow after the show.

Love and Respect!

You probably enjoyed the TC show last night. I cannot help commenting on the Suzanne Vega song Caramel which appeared in the trailors and commercials of the movie Closer - but not in the movie/ Wonder if it is on the strck of the movie. It does appear on the soundtrack of the Great Expectations (Ethan Hawke and a sexy Gwyneth Paltrow). Dreamy number that - and she so reminds me of the restaurant where I spent soooo many days chatting away with my mates who perhaps are all over this globe and who I know I will never see again, while attending Columbia uptown in manhattan. The reason? Well, the restaurant was called Tom's Restaurant and was her inspiration for her song Tom's Diner. No kidding.

I think she mentioned to me Tom's Restaurant as the inspiration when I interviewed her at my radio show in college/univeristy. No kidding, really. It was one of the highlights of my young life in Canada.

I saw her again after about 10 years, couple of years ago in Atlanta. She sounded as great as ever, and Caramel is still one of my favourite songs - ever! Once again, it speaks to me about a relationship I was pursuing at the time, which blossomed but maybe it shouldn't have.

The Great Expectations soundtrack was really good. By the way, there will be no Closer soundtrack according to the studio.

Thievery Corporation were out of this world. I will post a review and pictures in the morning.
